Safety and Security
MSF aims to provide conflict victims with the medical care they need the most. Consequently, work may take place in locations of active conflict or in post-conflict communities, which may pose a risk to the safety and security of workers in these areas. MSF recognizes that it is impossible to eliminate all risks, but it does its best to mitigate these risks by adopting a comprehensive insurance policy.
Once in the field, all MSF employees must abide by the security protocols and regulations, whereas failure to do so may lead to the termination of their contracts. All security and safety protocols are put in place to ensure that the organization provides effective support to the patients most in need around the world.

Recruitment Process
CV upload and a motivation letter stating your interest in working abroad with MSF. Both documents are mandatory. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Find out more about MSF field work through information sessions and/or webinars that will be announced in the news section.
If your skills and experience meet MSF’s field needs, you will be contacted for a pre-interview with a recruiter. You will then have to pass an online language test English or French to determine your level.
If the pre-interview was successful, the recruiter invites the candidate to take part in an Assessment Centre (AC). This is a method to find out (assess) if the candidate meets the minimum requirements for specific competencies. During the AC the candidate will have a face-to-face interview and a group and individual exercise.
FAQs
Working hours vary considerably depending on the project with, on average, one day off per week. Work can frequently be hectic and you may be required to put in longer hours. However, time is normally set aside for rest and relaxation.
There is no maximum age limit for our field staff. Difficult working conditions do mean that applicants must be in a good state of health.
Living conditions in the field (security, housing, etc) make it difficult for field staff to be accompanied by children or partners who are not participating in the project.
It is not possible to honour specific country requests. MSF recruits applicants into a pool before matching them to a specific position based on their skills, experience and background. MSF expects candidates to be flexible about where they work so that we can meet the needs of the field. However, special skills, languages and restrictions are taken into consideration in each placement.
MSF will arrange and cover you for health insurance while on assignment. In the event of medical evacuations, repatriation is also covered.
We recruit doctors and other medical and non-medical staff. Examples include surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, midwives, mental health professionals, finance and human resources specialists, logisticians, and specialists in construction, electricity, mechanics, or water-and-sanitation.
